About the Captain:
Captain Robert “Bobby” Gause comes from one of Tarpon Springs’ original pioneer families, with five generations deeply tied to Florida’s waters. His family’s history isn’t just about being on the sea—it’s about knowing it inside and out. From fishing and sponge diving to building boats, the Gause name has long been connected to life on the water.
His grandfather, Robert P. Gause, QM1, was a war hero who served aboard the USS Indianapolis (see exhibit at the Tarpon Springs Historical Society Museum), and every Gause man that followed carried on the family’s love for the sea. Bobby’s own journey started young—when he was just eight years old, his father gave him a 14-foot motorboat, sparking a lifelong passion. With thousands of hours at the helm and a deep respect for maritime traditions, Captain Bobby Gause brings experience, skill, and a true love for the water to every journey.
About the First mate:
Jeanny was born and raised in the Island of Puerto Rico, Firefly’s First Mate moved to upstate New York at 16, later spending time in Portugal and traveling all over. Now happily settled in beautiful Tarpon Springs, she loves connecting with people and serving others. Her greatest joys come from time with God, her husband Bobby, and her loved ones. A published writer and home interior decorator, she enjoys journaling about gratitude, boating, traveling, and taking sunset walks on the beach. She also finds fulfillment in volunteering for the Friends of Anclote Key Lighthouse, helping to preserve its rich history.
